Safe Objectives, Inc. now offers Lead Inspections!
Safe Objectives currently has on staff a Certified Lead Inspector and Risk Assessor to give a definitive result on the presence or absence of lead within a property. Inspections can be done on Residential, Multi-Family and commercial properties. Inspections are performed using X-Ray Fluoroscopy (XRF) unless Paint Chip Sampling is requested.
Why get a Lead Inspection?
- Lead is a toxic metal that has been used within building materials such as Paint, Plumbing and Piping and can be found in many consumer products. Federal and State regulations have been introduced to minimize the use of lead in consumer products, new constructions and imported products yet older homes and use of older products still contain a health and environmental hazard today. The most common source of lead exposure is from lead-based paint in older homes and the dust created by common renovation and remodeling activities. Lead poisoning can cause a variety of health defects, especially in children. Learning disorders, behavioral problems and neurological disorders are the most extreme conditions. Pregnant mothers and even adults are also at risk depending upon the levels of lead present.
- Lead exposure can be significantly reduced by knowing of the presence or absence of lead within a property then mitigating the work area per EPA and HUD guidelines for Lead Safe Work Practices.
- A Lead Inspection or Risk Assessment can also be used to reduce the cost of a project by definitively answering the question; Is there Lead? If the inspector does not find lead within the work area or property, the contracting company is not required to follow the Lead Safe Work Practices outlined in EPA's new Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule 40 CFR Part 745.
